I am interested in having a German license plate on the rear of my car. I live in Georgia, so I wouldn't need one in the front. If I were to get a German license plate printed with my current Georgia license plate info, (ADG 0640) and I put the county sticker/ registration sticker on the German plate, would it be legal? In no spot would the German license plate have any German stickers or anything else on it. It would just be a blank German plate with my Georgia plate info on it, so if the police, etc. type in the number, it will come up with my info. Please let me know if this would work or of any other similar options.

I say go for it, and just have a registered plate in your backseat just in case you get pulled over

Not sure how that's seen in Georgia, but in BC that would be retarded and you'd get pulled over in a heartbeat. Besides, what's the point?

Be happy with vanity plates in the front.

There's a loophole in the law, you can get a Georgia (country) plate and be legal. It's on the internet, so it has to be true.

I drove around for 4 days without a plate when I was transferring my plate from Virginia to Indiana. Not one problem with anything. . . . I had a transportation permit or whatever you need, but it was just a piece of paper in the glove box because I couldn't put it on my back window.

Last day when I got my plate there was a cop that followed me for a little while and didn't seem to mind that I didn't have it put on yet.

interesting theory, if the color and #'s are the Georgia style, who would care about the tag shape? I'm sure some moronic law is broken, though.

I am pretty sure the GSP will not be on board with this plan.

Agreed.

Had a buddy try similar here in MA. The line he got back from the powers that be was the identification tags on the car had to be "The" state issued tags, not replicas.

Asking your state's DMV would probably get you a more accurate (though maybe less satisfying answer) than you're gonna get here.

If you really want a German plate, make sure that there's a D on the left blue side of the Euro plate.

I can guarantee that is illegal.

Yes. I think it's illegal. If you want a German plate on your car, move to Germany.

Not moronic. Plates are printed (or at least monitored) by the state. If anyone could put whatever plate they wanted on the back, with whatever number, how would they know if it's right.

The uniformity in plates helps law enforcement quickly read and look up plates.

I know a guy with an 8 series in texas. He has two random euro plates on the front and back and then his regular state license plates in the front and back windshield. He's had them for a few years with no problems. He says he would tell them thats how he bought the car. However your "probable cause" to be pulled over is now up the roof and you can't drink and drive, or have anything else illegal in your car because they will pull your ass over if they want to.

Seconded.

Well I'm glad that's over!

I don't see why anyone would be dumb enough to purposely attract attention to themeselves. Putting on plates from a different country and continent will be a cop magnet.
