Let me just preface this post by saying yes sometimes I buy professional products for my personal detailing, but there are those times you just cant justify mail ordering product and you need it now. So this one is for you guys who want a quality store bought product recommendation.

I had to make this post. I have been a die hard Lexol Vinylex guy for at least 10 years, maybe because it was just old dependable and partly the marketing.
But I have to admit, I love to use my product everywhere, engine etc. , and it seems the price has crept up to $9.99+ lately for the ~17 oz spray bottle. So lets just say I blow thru a few bottles a year.

So I rolled the dice the other day and went in for the $4 bottle of the Meguiars at Target figuring I could toss it if it sucked. First of all Lexol should take a lesson from Meguiars, because the spray bottle is vastly superior to that of Lexol. reasoning? Well the Lexol spray bottle has an adjuster but almost always no matter how delicate you will get spray everywhere, especially on the windshield. (yes I know I should be spraying it on the towel, but even then sometimes it goes everywhere) The Meguiars bottle has no adjuster, but if you pull the trigger hard you get a well defined and even mist, and if you pull it slow you get a a nice even....how shall I say...."load"????

Ok so that is just the bottle, comparing the two actual products, Lexol is a bitch to get even and streaks like crazy and of course there is that obnoxious bright greasy shine, which even seems to be yellowish (which I never realized until converting).

The meguiars liquid is a while gel like liquid which I think helps it to spray evenly, and finishes in a nice Matte. Which seems to have decent durability which I consider a few weeks.

So, for all you non-pro product guys looking to pickup some interior protectant on the less expensive. It's worth a try to see if you like it as much as I do.

Also I have my suspicions after talking with a few Meguiars cs reps, that alot of meguiars pro products are "trickling" down into their store bought product lines under different names.
So at least you wont have to buy a gallon at a time, and get a pretty decent product.
