I know a few people including my dad who had it done. I'll find out where.

I would go with PRK over Lasik if I had to. I work at a large clinic and PRK is the preferred choice.
Just keep in mind as you age your near vision will get worse and there is no way to correct that aside from glasses. Also for the first 6 months after getting PRK done you will have dry eyes but easy to fix with drops.
My DVA is going as I get older and I personally wouldnt go either route. I prefer to have my NVA at 20/10 all the time. Just not worth it in the long run. There are far too many young people jumping on the laser eye surgery trip. Most have no idea of the consequences in the long run. Most aren't even a candidate if their DVA is better than 20/400. I am at 20/80 in one eye and 20/60 in the other. There is no guarntee that any laser eye surgery would make my DVA better, thus me not being a good candidate.
There is nothing wrong with glasses or contacts.

Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute (PCLI) in Bellevue is where my dad went a few years ago. He has not had any problems at all. PCLI guarantees their work so basically you pay once and if you ever have problems or need more corrective surgery later, they will do it free of charge.
When I get my Lasik done soon I will be going there.

I used Lasik Plus 4+ years ago and i had a pretty good experience. the first couple of days, i had crazy vision (dry eyes, everything too bright, etc.) but after about a week i think it was back to normal.
I went to the one in Bellevue, the staff was friendly and explained to me everything before hand, but that was 4 years ago.
anyways, here is a link to their website.

Ugh I would like to get this done as well. My contacts are giving me way to many problems.
It is my understanding that its not covered by insurance, anyone know more?

^ No, Most insurances will not cover it. You might get lucky and have something like VSP that gives you like a 20% discount. Although if you have access to Flex Spending Accounts, most claim corrective surgery is a reimbursable cost.
cool, thank you sublink for the good advice, and thanks sparkle for the recommendation :)
No problem!
Let us know where you end up going and of course give us your feedback! :) I would be interested in hearing it!

I would highly recommend Brandt Carroll MD: http://www.swedish.org/Physicians/Brant-Carroll
I work in medical equipment sales, and when I was looking for a good opthamologist, I asked some nurses, and his name came up as one of the best. His office is in Ballard, and he does the procedure at the Swedish facility on First Hill.
What I like about him, is his conservative approach, he will NOT rush you to do anything...he will discuss what options are best suited for you, and what the expected outcomes can be.
Not everyone will need reading glasses when they age...though most will. I am near sighted and ended up going with "mono-vision", only doing lasik on my right eye. I use my left eye for reading and computer work, and right eye for distance work. Your brain adjusts quickly to this, but you want to try it with contacts first, to ensure it is right for you.

+1
I had it done a couple years ago, by lasikplus. Got the lifetime warranty. It's about that time to go in for a fine tune. There are pros and cons to lasik. At times, I find it difficult to see things up close already, focusing quickly on objects when I'm looking around, adjusting from far and near, dry eyes, and dealing with my vision being better at times. If I'm really tired, it becomes very difficult to see. Anyone else have these side effects?
Overall I'm satisfied with the result of being able to see without glasses or contacts. If you go to lasikplus, ask them if they accept referrals, they might take a couple hundred off. Good luck!
