I was curious if anyone has yet to swap a L92 and keep the VVT? Can you swap out the stock truck oil pan for say a Holley LS Retro-fit pan? Will it work with the high output oil pump used for the VVT? I know that the truck intake manifold would have to be swapped out for a LS3 or L76 manifold to clear the hood of a E46. Also I can not find any good info if you can swap the front accessories to a GTO or f-body setup. I know people are ditching the VVT setup which would basically make it a LS3. I think the VVT would be a good thing to keep.

Mast Motorsports sells all kind of L92 crate motors. I would'nt think oil pan or accesories would be any kind of problem. I know some of the truck heads needed a hole either drilled and/tapped for an f-body accessories.
VVT....I have'nt yet seen in used in conjunction with a manual transmission. There was a decent article not that long ago....i thinkg GMHTP where they did a bunch of cam swaps LS3 and L99. Where they kept the VVT, but did limit the phaser. There were gains from VVT, mostly a broader power delivery IIRC.

This outlines the parts needed to convert... i am not clear about the oil pan issue if you are keeping the VVT with the high output oil pump however, is the l92 pan rear sumped?

I haven't seen any L92 with a manual trans behind them either. I think HP-tuner has out or is working on the programing to run a manual trans with the L92.

That outline is for swapping it into a f-body. I would want to keep the L92 harness, ECU, etc. instead of switching everything over to the 24x reluctor wheel, f-body harness, ECU, and so on. The more I learn about this the more difficult it looks. Maybe it would not be as difficult as people are making it out to be. Who knows.

most people just pull the vvt stuff out and flash an ls3 tune on it and go from there.

i'd bet there is an australian config that would support a manual and an l92 with a lot less work...

Here is a comparo between the LS3 and L99 (vvt) with cams by mast..... take this with a grain of salt, as these dyno pulls are sans accessories, usually with an electric water pump and long tube headers.
