a car which is 4 yrs old, lets say to be 5 yrs old with 80k+ miles should I be too concern with its mileage especially for a 135 1 Series? I posted a thread about this but I guess that nobody wants to assist me. I missed driving a bmw, mercedez, etc. I was force a few years ago to let go of my BMW's, Benz because of a financial issue and job related injury. Now I am driving a VW Golf TDI which I love but I miss having a nice performance, comfortable, somewhat of a luxury status car. I have saved enough to buy cash because I don't want to finance, my other dilema is, should I deplete all of my savings just to buy another car??:rolleyes Since I live in Chicago, these 1 Series are not very good in the winter months, therefor I will need to keep my VW for everyday driving and keep the BMW for special occasions, etc.. My brother thinks that I am crazy to have 2 cars in the garage, but you only live once and before I settle down, get married, etc I might as well enjoy a few toys. The other issue with buying a higher mileage car inexpensive is the fact that if in the future I decide to sell it, etc it could become an issue because most car buyers DO NOT want to buy a car with 90k 100k+ miles and multiple owners on a carfax report... :shifty decisions, decisions... What would you do???? Thanks for the help I truly appreciate it..

Yup, it means the car was driven a lot.

Really, if you have to ask the question "Does high mileage matter?", the answer is YES.

The vast majority of SUCCESSFUL high mileage owners do 99% of the maintenance on t heir vehicles.

Would you be that type of owner?

If you must have a 135i, buy the one with the best service records. turbos require frequent oil changes using synthetic. If they go bad, its over $5k to replace. BMW extended the warranty on the turbos to 80k miles. I believe there is also an extended warranty on the high pressure fuel pump. Otherwise, a 128i will still provide lots of fun. And find a good independent mechanic; you will put his kids through private school.
