One of my friends is about to pickup either a BMW M4 (Yas Marina Blue) or Audi RS5 (Sepang Blue).

I have been trying to find information comparing both of them; found this: http://www.exoticcarlist.com/blog/bmw-m4-vs-audi-rs5/

I know some claim RWD is better, but for year round driving (rain, snow); some people need AWD aka Quattro.

Curious what you guys thought. I have always tried to compare BMW/Audi and there competing models.

I've driven both... RS5 is an nice car. They win when it comes to technology, by the M3/4 felt more engaging. The RS5 sounded better but the M3 drove better (the adjustable suspension in the RS5 was either too soft or too hard). That's a tough comparison. It doesn't snow here though...

I happen to agree with Kevlar, the M4 will be more exciting to drive. If AWD is an issue, than the Audi makes more sense of course.

Good comparo vid.

I think from a pure track use perspective, not very surprising the M4 wins that battle. From a road car perspective though, I think it'd be a much closer match.

I've never driven an RS5, only an older S4... but even then that 4.2 V8 is just FANTASTIC. I think, honestly, if you are one of those that just simply MUST have a manual transmission, then quite possibly the RS5 is the better option. It's just SO satisfying... I bought a DCT M4 because I spend a ton of time in heavy traffic, but from what I've heard the S55 isn't quite as magical with a manual as it is with the DCT.

That said, the only other compelling reason to choose the RS5 over the M4 would be the AWD... which seeing your location is Colorado, is quite compelling!

I really don't think it's possible to be displeased with either car. I do think if it's going to be spending a lot of time at the track, the M4 would be the better option... but who REALLY does that? Even I understand that I won't be throwing it around sideways like in that vid above, at least not very frequently! Then it all gets down to practicality and subjective things like visual aesthetics, comfort, noise, etc. I have to say though if snow is a real possibility for at least 1/3 of the year like it is in CO I would have thought a lot harder about the RS5...
