Here in Maryland the snow continues to fall. Just before the storm hit, I received my Wheelskin, a nice warm dry indoor project (if you've got your steering wheel removed).

Not sure about the durability of the cover, however Wheelskin covers seem to have a good reputation based on my limited research.

Once the wheel is installed I will take additional pics, and maybe follow up periodically on how the cover wears.

No DIY, but here are a few observations:
1. The Wheelskin cover is a quality kit. The cover itself is well made of quality leather, very strong, and well fitting. The seams are designed to make it almost impossible to rip out a thread hole. The lacing thread is also very strong, and waxed for easier tightening.
2. Remove your wheel; it's not very hard. IMO, lacing up one of these covers with the wheel still in the car is folly.
3. The directions are pretty straightforward; the is nothing fancy about installing one of these covers.
3. Initial focus (for a two-tone cover) should be on aligning the colors. Also, know your plan for getting around the spokes, and make sure all spokes are laced symmetrically.
4. Finish lacing the wheel, but if some of the seams aren't tight, just wait a bit before tying the ends. Let the cover stretch for a while and re-tighten.

Here it is almost ready. I will re-tighten at least one more time before installing

FWIW I paid ~$45 including shipping. It really looks nice in person.

In terms of quality, installation, and finish, this cover has exceeded my expectations.

I put a Wheelskin on my E23 back around '92 and it still looked great when I retired the car for rust in '14

I'll add my .02. All of my experiences have been positive.

I bought my first one probably more than 10 years ago. Over the years, I've bought them for personal vehicles, and recommended them for clients, put a few on for them etc. The only issue I've ever had was quickly resolved. I can't remember the details now, but I needed replacement thread for some reason. The company sent it to me quickly, no charge. Their "M" stitching is nice looking too.

Im glad to see the quality hasn't dropped off.

I put a wheelskin in my last 540, and I was very happy with it.

Hey nice pics, I am considering this color combo for my Atlanta blue with tan interior. I assume you have tan interior and that is the sand color from wheelskins?

Any chance you could post several pics of it installed from many angles, I can't tell if their sand color really matches the tan interior to my liking.

Thank you for your time,
riz
